Elga Deli’s move from the relaxed charm of Barcelona to the dynamic pulse of Paris marks a bold new chapter in her modeling career. In a city where fashion is woven into every street and every moment, she embraces both the challenges and the opportunities that come with the world’s most iconic style capital.
You moved from sunny Barcelona to Paris. Paris is often called the fashion capital of the world. What unique opportunities does this city offer to models that you didn’t find in Spain? How does the modeling industry in France differ from that in Spain in terms of pace, style, and attitude towards models?
The decision to move was easy for me, having spent much of my life working in France and Milan. Barcelona was more a part of my life than a place to work — especially back then, when I was in love with both the city and a hot Latin man. Now my heart is free, and I am more immersed in work. So Paris is the perfect place for this! In Paris, fashion is not only on the catwalks but also around — the streets and architecture themselves are already a style! People on the streets are incredibly beautiful and care about their appearance! Paris is a constant desire to be bright and beautiful! So I have high hopes for both French fashion and to find out what French love is.
Barcelona is known for its relaxed atmosphere, while Paris is famous for its energy and fashion. Did you have any concerns before moving — for example, adapting to a new market, the language barrier, or competition?
I had no concerns since I fly to Paris for fashion week almost every year, and all this is nothing new to me. Yes, I like this energy, this chic! So far, I have only just started learning French, but with a good knowledge of English it is not scary anywhere — after all, it is an international sphere. And I like that now the French market is very tolerant of parameters of age and gender!
You say that in Paris there are no standards or age limits in modeling. What factors are changing the industry’s perception of the “ideal look”?
The ideal image is the image that can be applied to each of us. People are different, and it seems to me that first of all fashion is something that should be available to any person regardless of their parameters! Because you want to be beautiful and stylish at any age and weight. Putting restrictions is a long-forgotten past!
Your photo style on Instagram is very expressive. Where do you feel the most free — on stage, in front of the camera, or in real life?
Since I was very young, I’ve felt completely at ease with myself — my body, my personality, and my essence. I always knew I was different because I didn’t care what others thought or said about me. The way I express myself is also a way of connecting with who I am and what I carry within.
I feel comfortable in my own skin, whatever the setting. My intention is to show that it is possible to be both sensual and comfortable in your body without being vulgar — to remain aesthetic and elegant.
What I do, I consider art, and it fulfils me because it is my passion. To answer the question: I feel happy and free anywhere, because that is how I feel within myself.
